The White Tailed Deer is considered North America's most plentiful and popular game animal. This might be true. However, until you have hunted Mule Deer, you may want to think again. Many hunters believe that Mule Deer are similar to White Tails, that the same tactics can be used in hunting them. This could not be farther from the truth. Mule deer spend most of their time out in the open. They can virtually vanish in an environment that at first appears to offer no place to hide. Many a hunter has been humbled and even questioned if these elusive deer dig holes!

Mule deer may be one of the most challenging animals you will ever hunt. They are about as predictable as the weather. Because they have confidence in their abilities, speed and skill to elude predators, there are even times when they seem a bit cocky. Even though they can be seen feeding in the fields of Dome Mountain nearly every evening, try making a stalk on one for a good shot. Hunters are continually amazed at their abilities to step just the right way to avoid the inevitable.

Archery hunters find Mule Deer Hunting a surprisingly exciting and eventful way to spend a week or more with Dome Mountain Outfitters. Anything can happen on an archery Mule Deer Hunt. Each day can be filled with one adventure after another. Hunters may find themselves set up in blinds awaiting a morning or evening ambush. They could also be involved in a long stalk. You just never know when it comes to Mule Deer.

Somewhat territorial, the Mule Deer have greatly benefited from our habitat restoration projects. Many deer seldom venture far from the low lands. At the same time, big bucks can also be found in the dark timber and steep slopes of Dome Mountain. Once again, our success rate for Mule Deer is excellent. Out limited hunter numbers and low pressure hunting provides ample opportunity for the hunt of a lifetime.

Dome Mountain Ranch offers special Mule Deer only hunts beginning in Archery season and extending into the third week of rifle. If you are truly looking for something unique, we hope you will give some thought to a mule deer hunt. It just could be something you will never forget!
